I’m Ren. I’m a graduate of Goddard College where I studied media, technology, and society. I’m interested in digital privacy, net neutrality, digital currencies, and general nerdery.

Here are a few hot links!:

  • Duckduckgo – A privacy oriented alternative to Google.
  • Ghostery – Ghostery is a browser extension – which means it’s an app you can add to your web browser or mobile phone/tablet – that shows you all the companies that are tracking you when you visit a website. Ghostery lets you learn more about those companies and the kinds of data they collect, and block them from collecting data, if you choose.
  • HTTPS Everywhere – HTTPS Everywhere is a Firefox, Chrome, and Opera extension that encrypts your communications with many major websites, making your browsing more secure.
  • Privacy Badger – Privacy Badger is a browser add-on that stops advertisers and other third-party trackers from secretly tracking where you go and what pages you look at on the web.  If an advertiser seems to be tracking you across multiple websites without your permission, Privacy Badger automatically blocks that advertiser from loading any more content in your browser.  To the advertiser, it’s like you suddenly disappeared.
  • Enigmail – OpenPGP message encryption and authentication for Thunderbird and SeaMonkey.
  • Technology and culture writer Erik Daivis” has a monthly podcast that I really dig.
